Mr. Birendra Kumar Mishra Mr. Birendra Kumar Mishra is the Founding Chair of Nepal IGF and the Joint Secretary of Ministry of Communication and IT.
Moderator Mr. Romkant Pandey Mr. Romkant Pandey, a dedicated ICT Educationists is the Assistant Professor at Department of ICT Education, Tribhuvan University, the oldest and largest university of Nepal. He is one of key team member of Nepal Open University for new initiative on ICT education where he designs various tools and approach for digital learning. Mr. Pandey is the Acting President of Internet Society Nepal and Vice chair of CAN Federation.
Panelists Mr. Ganesh Shah Ganesh Shah is the senior politician with vision in science and technology.  Currently he is the responsible of the Science and Technology Department of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP). Mr. Shah served as the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology in past. Mr. Shah also is known for his keen interest in technology who maintains his own blog, advocates for climate change and gives his lightning talks on technology forums. Shah is a mechanical engineer by profession.
Manohar Kumar Bhattarai Manohar Kumar Bhattarai was the Vice Chair of the then High Level Commission for Information Technology, Government of Nepal. Mr. Bhattarai’s involvement in the Information and Communication Technology sector spans nearly three decades encompassing varying responsibilities in various functional and leadership roles. Mr. Bhattarai is credited with the initiative to usher in the concept of rural telecentres in Nepal as a means of bridging digital divide and expanding community access to ICT.
Mr. Purusottam Khanal Purusottam Khanal is the Chairman of Nepal Telecommunications Authority, the telecom regulator of Nepal. He has long experiences of telecommunications regulation, financial management, HR management and development administration. Previously he served NTA as Senior Director and has significant experience in the issues of telecommunications from content, technology as well as infrastructure.

 

Ms. Sunaina Ghimire Pandey Sunaina Ghimire Pandey is the Vice Chair of CAN Federation who had worked as an Assistant General Manager of Tech One Global Nepal. Covered more than 18 years of experience in the field of ICT, started from 1998 as a programmer and instructor, after that she had diverse experience on Series of Microsoft Operating System & Application Localization.

Anil Raghubanshi Anil Raghuvanshi, the founder of ChildSafeNet, is a child rights worker with more than 27 years of experience in child protection at UN agencies and international agencies, which includes service in nine countries – in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Caribbean. He has built and mentored a strong team of highly dedicated young Nepalese, in order to promote safer internet among children and young people.

 

Kamala Adhikari Kamala Adhikari has keen interest on digital rights, protection of women and children in cyber space and mobile technologies. As Internet Governance enthusiast, she has participated various IG forums including, ICANN, Stockholm Internet Forum, APrIGF, Nepal IGF. She is also speaking at one of workshop on child safety in UN IGF Berlin.

 

Santosh Sigdel Mr. Santosh Sigdel is a human rights lawyer, basically having interest in digital rights, media and freedom of expression. He is the immediate past president of Internet Society Nepal Chapter. Mr. Sigdel holds Master’s Degree in Human Rights Law from Central European University, Hungary.

Workshop Proposer Dikchya Raut/Surendra Tiwari

Moderator Dikchya Raut Graduate of Law, Dikchya Raut leads Youth IGF movement in Nepal. In this position, she works closely with youth in Nepal to help strengthen their voices on the issues of Internet governance. Moreover, Ms. Raut is active as MSG and PC member in Nepal IGF. On her capacity as a youth representative, she facilitates to bring together policy influencers and youth to encourage productive dialogues on internet regulation in Nepal. Besides, Ms. Raut has presented impact of her intervention in Nepal in both regional as well as international forums.
Surendra Tiwari Surendra is an Advocate and Founding Partner of the Imperial Law Associates. He has extensive experience in corporate, foreign direct investment, cyber law, , information, communications and technology law, and civil and criminal litigation.

 

Surendra has advised and represented foreign investors, telecommunication service providers, Internet Service Providers, multinational IT companies, national level newspapers, international hospitals and pharmaceuticals and various private individuals in corporate, civil and criminal matters.

Surendra is the Founding MSG of YIGF Nepal, MSG of Nepal IGF and an active member in Global Internet Society, Internet Society Nepal Chapter (ISOC-Nepal), Internet Governance Institute (IGI) and Forum for Digital Equality (FDI).

Surendra has participated and organized various national and international Internet governance related programs such as Nepal Internet Governance Forum (Nepal IGF), Nepal School on Internet Governance (npSIG), Indian School on Internet Governance (inSIG) and Asia Pacific School on Internet Governance (apSIG).

 

Panelists/Speakers Udeep Baral Udeep Baral  is a Computer Engineer who works as a Program Officer at Internet Society Nepal Chapter. He has been involving Internet Governance and represented from Technical Community. In national Nepal IGF and Nepal School on Internet Governance [npSIG] 2018 , his contributed on the topic Youth and IG. He is also working on the youth mobilization with his team to bring more participation and involvement in IG. He was also selected as Internet Society IGF Youth Ambassadors 2018 program to empower young adults.
Bibek Silwal Bibek Silwal is a Civil Engineer who strongly believes in involvement of youth in community’s leadership and governance.
In the field of Internet Governance, Bibek has been continuously involved in Internet Governance platform since his fellowship in Nepal School of Internet Governance (npSIG2018). He had also participated in India School of Internet Governance(inSIG2018) as an international fellow and involved in past edition of Nepal Internet Governance Forum(Nepal IGF). Bibek is actively involving and working in Youth Movement and Youth related activities for Internet Governance in Nepal.
He is founder member of Rural Development SIG and member of Youth Observatory and Nepal Chapter in Internet Society .
Ananda Gautam Mr. Gautam is Graduate of Bsc. (Hons ) Networking and IT Security from London Metropolitan University. Being involved with different agencies and organisations as an IT Officer, Mr. Gautam is fellow of first ever NPSIG 2018 with his active involvement in NPSIG he was able to grab Internet society Nepal Chapter fellowship to APRICOT 2018 afterwards he is actively engaged in IG activities in Nepal. He recently completed a course called “How to Engage in Broadband Policy and Regulatory Processes” organized by Internet society Nepal, CLT and Lirne Asia.

 

Lipasha Shrestha Lipasha Shrestha is an health care management student who have finished her undergraduate studies in health care management and doing her graduation in the same field. She is currently working as Ass. Program Manager in the British organization named as Work the World Ltd and worked in different private health care service provider organization. She joined ISOC Nepal Chapter since the starting, 2009 as a remote participant. I have participated in various internet related programs like ICANN58 Copenhagen, NPSIG 2018 are the recent once. She believes that these types of program helps to know the proper use of internet and its drawbacks as well. And that these platforms are very helpful for the youngster in order to express their knowledge, ideas and view on it.

 

Shiva Karmacharya She is young and unapologetically a feminist. MSG member and Programme Committee member at Nepal IGF 2018. She has worked in LOOM as Internet and Sexuality Unit Team Leader; has assisted in the research on “”Use of internet and its challenges for gender and sexual rights activists in Nepal” and is a co- Author of research on “Online Violence as a manifestation of offline discrimination” published in 2017.

Chandra Shekhar Adhikari Chandra Shekhar Adhikari is a Kathmandu based Journalist. He has been contributing in journalism field for 18 years. Currently, he has been covering foreign affairs, migration and defense issues for Annapurna Post Daily. He has been coordinating the reporters as a Political, Foreign and Current Affairs Bureau Chief. Adhikari has completed his Master’s Degree in Mass Communication and Multimedia from Purbanchal University and Diploma in Journalism from Nepal Press Institute (NPI). Upon completion of his diploma in Journalism, he got an opportunity of Reuters Fellowship in London on International News Writing in 2004-2005. And, he was also selected for International Visitors Leadership Program by the United States of America for ‘ Investigative Journalism’ in 2017. His participation in dozens of trainings and workshops in and out of country are remarkable. His numbers of News, articles and features have been published in different newspapers.
Prithvi Nath Rai Mr. Prithvi Nath Rai is an advocate, author, notary public translator and lecturer. He has been discharging his legal service of advocacy in Nepal for 19 years. He has taught in Kathmandu based esteemed colleges since 2005 AD in Commercial Law. At present, he has been teaching Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence in Hrit Academy, Basundhara Kathmandu since 2015 AD and National Law College, Sanepa, Lalitpur since 2017. Besides, he has authored text books on General Law for Grade XI, General Law for Grade XII, General Principles and Theories of Law for Grade XI, Constitutional Law for Grade XI and Business Law for BBS and BBA. He has been awarded with different awards, medals and revered certificates for his academic excellences and magnum opus. She is associated with Body & Data as communication officer which works in the area of internet freedom, sexuality and feminism. Before her professional venture in the digital safety world, she was an avid parliamentary debater and a proud feminist.
Jyotsna Maskay Jyotsna Maskay is a fun feminist. She draws her power and energy from the women’s movement, and believes in using an inter-sectional approach to analysis. She cannot claim the knowledge extracted from women’s experiences, but that has sharpened her experiences in areas of movement, women defenders, migration, violence based on gender, and among others. She has set up a feminist organization called LOOM that adopts a multi-generational approach in interconnecting generations of activists. She loves dogs, and reading detective books.

Panelists/Speakers Udeep Baral Udeep Baral is a program officer in Internet Society Nepal Chapter. He completed his undergrad studies in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. He has experience in private sectors; IBSS, Information Society Response Team Nepal, Airwave to name a few. He has also participated in national IG forums and schools. He has represented Nepal in APSIG 2018.

Ananda Gautam Mr. Gautam is Graduate of Bsc. (Hons ) Networking and IT Security from London Metropolitan University. Being involved with different agencies and organisations as an IT Officer, Mr. Gautam is fellow of first ever NPSIG 2018 with his active involvement in NPSIG he was able to grab Internet society Nepal Chapter fellowship to APRICOT 2018 afterwards he is actively engaged in IG activities in Nepal. He recently completed a course called “How to Engage in Broadband Policy and Regulatory Processes” organized by Internet society Nepal, CLT and Lirne Asia.

 

Lipasha Shrestha Lipasha Shrestha is an health care management student who have finished her undergraduate studies in health care management and doing her graduation in the same field. She is currently working as Ass. Program Manager in the British organization named as Work the World Ltd and worked in different private health care service provider organization. She joined ISOC Nepal Chapter since the starting, 2009 as a remote participant. I have participated in various internet related programs like ICANN58 Copenhagen, NPSIG 2018 are the recent once. She believes that these types of program helps to know the proper use of internet and its drawbacks as well. And that these platforms are very helpful for the youngster in order to express their knowledge, ideas and view on it.

 

Shiva Karmacharya She is young and unapologetically a feminist. MSG member and Programme Committee member at Nepal IGF 2018. She has worked in LOOM as Internet and Sexuality Unit Team Leader; has assisted in the research on “”Use of internet and its challenges for gender and sexual rights activists in Nepal” and is a co- Author of research on “Online Violence as a manifestation of offline discrimination” published in 2017.

Chandra Shekhar Adhikari Chandra Shekhar Adhikari is a Kathmandu based Journalist. He has been contributing in journalism field for 18 years. Currently, he has been covering foreign affairs, migration and defense issues for Annapurna Post Daily. He has been coordinating the reporters as a Political, Foreign and Current Affairs Bureau Chief. Adhikari has completed his Master’s Degree in Mass Communication and Multimedia from Purbanchal University and Diploma in Journalism from Nepal Press Institute (NPI). Upon completion of his diploma in Journalism, he got an opportunity of Reuters Fellowship in London on International News Writing in 2004-2005. And, he was also selected for International Visitors Leadership Program by the United States of America for ‘ Investigative Journalism’ in 2017. His participation in dozens of trainings and workshops in and out of country are remarkable. His numbers of News, articles and features have been published in different newspapers.
Prithvi Nath Rai Mr. Prithvi Nath Rai is an advocate, author, notary public translator and lecturer. He has been discharging his legal service of advocacy in Nepal for 19 years. He has taught in Kathmandu based esteemed colleges since 2005 AD in Commercial Law. At present, he has been teaching Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence in Hrit Academy, Basundhara Kathmandu since 2015 AD and National Law College, Sanepa, Lalitpur since 2017. Besides, he has authored text books on General Law for Grade XI, General Law for Grade XII, General Principles and Theories of Law for Grade XI, Constitutional Law for Grade XI and Business Law for BBS and BBA. He has been awarded with different awards, medals and revered certificates for his academic excellences and magnum opus. Panelists/Speakers Shripa Pradhan Shripa Pradhan is pursuing her bachelors in psychology from Tribhuwan University. She is associated with Body & Data as communication officer which works in the area of internet freedom, sexuality and feminism. Before her professional venture in the digital safety world, she was an avid parliamentary debater and a proud feminist.
Jyotsna Maskay Jyotsna Maskay is a fun feminist. She draws her power and energy from the women’s movement, and believes in using an inter-sectional approach to analysis. She cannot claim the knowledge extracted from women’s experiences, but that has sharpened her experiences in areas of movement, women defenders, migration, violence based on gender, and among others. She has set up a feminist organization called LOOM that adopts a multi-generational approach in interconnecting generations of activists. She loves dogs, and reading detective books.
